SLIP FALL OVERVIEW

Hotels,
restaurants, fast food outlets, nursing homes, retail stores, corporate
office buildings, banks, hospitals, shopping centers, health
spas/clubs, pools, and all porcelain type/steel enameled bathroom &
tiled showers are some of the facilities that must address slip/fall
issues
 According to the National Safety Council there are over 9 million disabling slip/fall accidents every year.
Slip/Fall accidents are the #1 cause of workplace injuries. Statistics
show each incident costs on average $12,470 with awards running into
the millions if a company can be shown not to have actively implemented
a program to prevent slip/falls; this includes treating their
non-porous hard surface floors. For every $1 spent on floor care
chemicals, $3 is spent on slip/fall claims and legal battles. The

Under the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and subsequent
regulation, a hard surface floor must have a coefficient of friction of
"0.50" or more. Failure to comply may result in a first time fine of
$50,000 and $100,000 thereafter. OSHA has also regulated the 0.50
standard under Sections; 1926.754, (c), (3) and 1910.68.
Even
if you think your floors are already anti-slip, over time all coatings
and tread surfaces become worn down loosing their compliance. Do not be
caught off-guard either preventing an incident or after an accident
